Demonstration: Setting up an account via Gcast and handout (recording-mobile-podcasts-with-gcast.pdf) with detailed instructions.
Work Day: Time to work on finishing up the final draft of the storymap, a 300-500 word piece of writing about an important place in your life. Also, students who need to use the class computers to work on wikis, blog entry make-up, or setting up a Gcast account will be able to use this time.
*Remember, your voice should be recorded via Gcast and your 5-10 images to help tell your story should be digitized by next Tuesday, May 27th. We will be in the library using the computers to turn the storymaps into digital stories with pictures, voiceovers recorded via Gcast, music, and other elements.

Step 1: Peer editor listens as writer reads memoir aloud and takes notes on peer editing worksheet. After writer finishes reading, peer editor discusses notes with writer. Remember, keep it positive and constructive to help the writer move forward.
Step 2: Peer editor reads writing aloud, pausing as necessary to discuss areas of strength and issues such as grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. that need some work. The peer editor asks questions to guide the writer to a better piece of writing rather than simply telling them what they need to fix.
** Remember, you need to find two peer editors to edit your writing, one who is also enrolled in Lit 10B this trimester and another who is over the age of eighteen.

WEEK 7 Monday, May 5th, 2008 SSR TKaM Internet Research w/ a partner: First, read We Shall Overcome: The Need for Change general background information on what life was like for an African American living in the south under Jim Crow laws. Then, examine Remembering Jim Crow. Pay close attention to the following sections: “Bitter Times,” “Danger Violence and Exploitation,” “Whites Remember Jim Crow,” and “Jim Crow Laws.” Each of these sections is a link that leads to vivid descriptions of the south during the time of Jim Crow. Of special interest is the link to “Jim Crow Laws” which lists and describes by state and topic (education, housing, entertainment, etc.) the ways in which blacks and whites were to be separated. Finally, reflect on and respond to the following questions in your composition notebook: 1. Define Jim Crow. What is a Jim Crow law? 2.
